AS 9100/AS 9110/AS 9120-the International Quality Management System for the Aviation, Space and Defense industry

AS 9100-Design, Develop or Manufacture

AS 9100 revision D (2016-09) The standard provides suppliers with requirements for creating and maintaining a comprehensive quality system for providing safe and reliable products to the ASD industry, as well as civil & military aviation requirements. “AS9100 Certified” means an organization has met the requirements of AS9100D. AS 9110-Aircraft Maintenance Organizations

AS 9110 revision C (2016-11) This standard is focused on the control of repair schemes and maintenance plans, configuration management, and the skills and qualifications necessary to perform MRO tasks within the aerospace community. The aerospace industry realized that the needs of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) segment were different than those of the OEM segment. The AS 9110 standard addresses many of the MR&O requirements that are identified in the US FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) Part 43 & 145. AS 9110 provides suppliers with a comprehensive quality system focused on areas directly impacting product safety and reliability, such as; 

  • Addresses civil aviation authorities and where in the standard that those requirements apply. 
  • Addresses definitions unique to the MR&O industry such as, Maintenance, Technical Data, Human Factors & Release Certificates. 
  • Includes expanded requirements for personnel conducting MR&O task. 
  • Addresses the qualification of new maintenance processes.

AS 9120 revision B (2016-11) This standard is focused on the emphasized that the quality management system requirements specified in this standard are complementary to contractual and applicable law and regulatory requirements.This International Standard specifies requirements for a quality management system where an organization

  • Demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system.
  • Improve processes for continual improvement of the system.
  •  Assure of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
